Unleash Your Generosity this Giving Tuesday!
November 29 is Giving Tuesday! Please join with us on this global day of generosity to support nonprofit organizations, including CIS-Charlotte. Your gift to CIS will support our goal of raising $5,000 to provide social-emotional learning programs and mental health supports to 350 students in need. Students like Calvin and Melanna, who benefited tremendously from a weekly social-emotional learning program coordinated by CIS in partnership with a local educational/counseling group. Or like Pharaoh, who learned how to channel his creativity and self-expression in an art therapy workshop arranged by CIS to support healing from trauma and grief.
Like schools across the country, schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg are still seeing high levels of absenteeism and lower test scores compared to pre-pandemic, especially among economically disadvantaged students. Students are still experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief and other mental health repercussions from the pandemic that significantly impact their attendance and academic performance. Providing students with the appropriate social-emotional learning tools and mental health support is vital to their recovery and their ability to flourish and succeed in school and beyond.
