Research & Evaluation Analyst

Positions Available:  Research & Evaluation Analyst

Job Status:  Non-Exempt / Full Time

Primary Function: Under the leadership of the Director, Research and Implementation, plays a vital role in building capacity to support data collection  and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.  The role is responsible for ensuring that existing data is reported in a timely and accurate manner additionally, the position assists with the development and implementation of new assessments and research reports. Overall, the Data Analyst supports the Research and Evaluation department’s purpose of performing and utilizing research to inform decision-makers about program efficacy and educational best practices.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Oversee the implementation of differentiated fidelity assessments
  • Create and update the advancement/resource development research repository
  • Generate all relevant reports for the programming and partnership team (e.g., monthly dashboards, attendance reports, partner utilization)
  • Generate and report data needed for program evaluation as well as individual performance evaluations
  • Oversee data quality improvement and assist with data cleaning.
  • Oversee all CMS data requests and manage the ftp site data
  • Merge and provide analysis of datasets using statistical software and Excel
  • Create research briefs for internal and external audiences
  • Assist with compiling Early Warning Indicator data for student enrollment
  • Aid in preparing data for funding grants and proposals with accuracy and within set timeframes
  • Tabulate, maintain, and/or visualize collected data aby organizing data into tables or graphs
  • Locate and link national, state, and local datasets for continuous improvement and evaluation purposes
  • Regularly review and synthesize data and provide accurate reports to leadership
  • Conduct literature reviews on topics and synthesize material in the form of bibliographies, abstracts, reports according to instructions
  • Assist in the development anad implementation of new assessments
  • Provide consultation on data collection systems, outcome measures, indicators and outputs for other initiatives, i.e., Safe Journey, Project LIFT, MCSO Youthful Offender program and other programs as needed
  • Assist with routine meeting logistics, take detailed minutes, organize project files and track important project deadlines as necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or comparable experience in records management, data analysis and information, Master’s preferred and 1 year successful work experience in research and data analysis
  • Technical Skills, to include:
    • Significant understanding of database operations
    • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel to include knowledge of data manipulation, pivot tables, importing data, exporting data production of charts, use macros, and functions including Lookup functions
    • Ability to draw conclusions from data and develop a reasonable explanation for data
    • Experience conducting data analysis and presenting results to diverse audiences
    • Highly proficient with spreadsheets and Google Apps
    • Knowledge of database management system(s), Tableau and knowledge of statistical packages (STATA, R, SPSS, SAS) and graphing programs (GIS) desired
    • Technologically proficient in all office technology systems including spread sheeting, work processing, email and skype
    • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office products
    • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly both verbally and in writing; effectively present complex information during training sessions, workshops and presentations for a wide range of audiences
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work well with diverse individuals at all levels, inside and outside the organization
    • Experience with non-profit entity strongly preferred
    • Familiar with CMS schools, administration, district data, and with K-12 education, social sciences and youth serving industry preferred
    • Familiar with CIS partners, including United Way and UNCC’s Institute for Social Capital
