At each middle school site we serve, the CIS “safety net” includes, but is not limited to:
- Providing comprehensive case management and dropout prevention for 100 students
- Working with school staff to monitor students' attendance/promotion/academic progress
- Coordinating the CIS Kids To College® program designed to bring early awareness to the importance of higher education
- Coordinating with local colleges to expose 6th grade students to college life through a unique six-session curriculum that combines hands-on activities with information on careers, and college life
- Organizing and providing opportunities for 7th and 8th grade students to participate in college tours throughout the school year
- Utilizing the CIS Kids To High School Program that introduces CIS enrolled 8th graders to high school life and academic requirements throughout the school year
- Informing students of the career path choices available to them upon entering high school
- Participating in Career Shadowing and Service Learning opportunities
- Planning and organizing Student Leadership meetings that focus on developing and enhancing leadership skills
