Communities In Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg will hold two Volunteer Training/Orientation events in January and February.  The Poverty Simulation Workshop on January 19 is open to anyone interested, including new or potential volunteers as well as experienced volunteers and CIS staff.  The Volunteer Orientation on February 2 is designed for new CIS volunteers and is part of the training process.  For more information or to RSVP for either of these events, please contact CIS Volunteer Coordinator Angela Yoo at ayoo@cischarlotte.org or 704.943.9536.  We hope you will join us!

Thursday, January 19, 2012
5:30 - 7:30 pm
The Children & Family Services Center, Training Room 1
601 E. 5th Street

Led by Crisis Assistance Ministry staff, this workshop will take participants through a week in the life of our students who live in poverty. Immerse yourself in hands-on activities that provide insight and increase sensitivity to those from fragile communities. All CIS volunteers, partners, and staff - new and experienced - are welcome.

CIS New Volunteer Orientation
Thursday, February 2, 2012
6:00 - 7:15 pm
The Children & Family Services Center, Training Room 2
601 E. 5th Street
Join us to learn the ropes, meet your fellow volunteers, and win door prizes! We will discuss your expectations for your volunteer experience, relationship development with your student, awareness of cultural diversity issues, and volunteer policies and procedures. Attendance is required for all incoming volunteers. Light refreshments will be provided.  (If you are not yet a registered volunteer with Communities In Schools, but are interested, please contact Angela Yoo to learn more, ayoo@cischarlotte.org or 704.943.9536.)

We look forward to seeing you at either or both of these workshops!
