Businesses:
CIS needs businesses and corporations to:

  • Encourage employees to volunteer as tutors/mentors at CIS school sites
  • Provide “job shadowing” and internship experiences for middle and high school students
  • Volunteer as a motivational or career guest speaker
  • Consider forming a partnership (“Be A Partner”) with a specific school. If interested in sponsoring a school, please contact CIS Executive Director Bill Anderson at 704-335-0601, ext. 9442, for more information.
Civic Groups and Faith-based Organizations:
We have formed enriching and mutually rewarding partnerships with several churches and civic organizations in the community. Your faith community or civic/social group can help Communities In Schools in the following ways:

  • Encourage members to volunteer as tutors/mentors with Communities In Schools
  • Collect school supplies for the annual School Tools Campaign in August
  • Provide summer camp scholarships for students
  • Establish a college scholarship fund for students through our ThinkCOLLEGE® program
  • Sponsor a School - provide financial and volunteer support through our "Be A Partner" program
  • Participate in Dine Out For Kids®  - the third Tuesday in June each year
