Gifts from individuals and foundations (family/private and community or donor-advised funds) are an ever increasing, vital part of the overall operating budget of Communities In Schools, helping CIS offer a brighter future to our students every year. Your financial support and generosity allow us to provide our school-based continuum of services Kindergarten through Grade 12 with integrity, so that we meet our mutual goal of delivering student performance outcomes that help to increase graduation rates.

Donations are tax deductible as permitted by law. To make an online donation, visit Donate Now. You may also forward your contribution by check to: Communities In Schools, Attention: Development Office, 601 E. 5th Street, Suite 300, Charlotte, NC 28202

Cap and Gown Giving Society

The Communities In Schools Cap and Gown Giving Society recognizes generous friends of CIS who have pledged an annual gift for five years to support our mission and help empower students who desperately need CIS for a chance at success. Society members are specially acknowledged in our annual report unless otherwise requested and have opportunities to attend special events. Please join us in impacting the lives of students by making a multi-year pledge today.

Contact the Development Office at 704.943.9440 to learn more.

Honor & Memorial Gifts

Through honorarium and memorial gifts, there is no better way to share your remembrance of someone special or commemorate a momentous occasion. In conjunction with your gift, Communities In Schools will send to the individual of your choice an acknowledgment card.

To make a gift in memory or in honor of a family member, friend or colleague or commemorate a special occasion, visit Donate Now or mail your contribution to CIS with your instructions.

Matching Gifts

Many employers will match your contributions to Communities In Schools. This is an easy way for you to increase the impact of your gift to support our students and maximize your philanthropic efforts in the community. Before making your donation, please check with your employer to determine if a matching gift is possible and to obtain a matching gift form that should be submitted to CIS with your donation.

Gifts of Securities/Other Assets

We welcome gifts of listed securities, real estate and certain other assets. When consulting with your financial or tax advisor, keep in mind that gifts of securities and certain other assets may be an advantageous way for you to make a contribution to support the mission of Communities In Schools and the children we serve.

For additional information regarding these specific giving opportunities, please contact our Development Office at 704.943.9440.

Planned Giving

We are immensely grateful for gifts that strengthen our financial stability long into the future. You may arrange a gift to Communities In Schools in the context of your current financial, retirement, or estate plan. Legacy gifts sustain our mission and allow us to ensure together that vulnerable students in our community will continue to have the opportunity to be successful in school and independent and self-sufficient in life.

To learn more and discuss confidentially, please contact our Development Office at 704.943.9440.

In Kind Gifts

For many of our Communities In Schools students, having essential tools and resources to be successful in school and being exposed to cultural and other learning opportunities that broaden dreams would not be possible without CIS. Your gift of goods and services goes a long way towards helping us provide a comprehensive programming model that enriches students and empowers them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Items needed range from personal hygiene products, new clothing and school uniforms to opportunities for job shadowing, career exploration, and enrichment via tickets to cultural events, museums or athletic venues for use as incentives and recognition.
